Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant with more than a billion users, is planning to expand its media business, which includes Aicopedia and Aicom Media Group.
Aix.com, the online content delivery service, and ai.com are two of its most valuable brands.
The company also plans to create its own news portal, Aiwo.com.
In an interview on Monday, Aix chief executive officer Lee Hsin-yu said the company is seeking to diversify its business to reach more consumers.
He said the portal is not about selling the Aix brand to others.
The company’s stock has fallen 10% in the past 12 months.
