In a world where women can’t get a job, they’re often left behind and are treated as second-class citizens, but it’s not always that way.
In this exclusive interview, actress and former ‘Honeymooners’ star Aimee Mann explains how this is happening and how she feels about the whole issue.
In her new documentary, ‘Aire Gripping,’ Mann discusses her experiences with shark attacks and the film’s plot line, and her thoughts on Hollywood’s attitude towards women.
“It’s not like we’re the only ones in this world that can’t go to work,” she said of the female-led industry.
“The problem is not only for the women, it’s for the men who have to go through the motions of it.”
Mann said the film explores the “horrendous” situation women face in the industry, including how they are treated and how Hollywood fails to support them when it comes to their careers.
Manny López, the director of the film, said that despite the film being an examination of the “human side” of the industry he is “deeply moved” by the “unbelievable” story it explores.
He said: “It’s a story of the impact on women in Hollywood, the horrible treatment they get when they get a break.
I’m deeply moved by the way this film has been so popular and is so widely available and is being seen around the world.”
There are women who are in the movie who have had horrible experiences in the past, and it’s the way that they deal with it that I’m deeply touched by.
“The director said that when he saw the footage of a man in a shark suit attacking a shark in the film he felt the need to “put some teeth in” and try and do something about it.”
I thought, ‘Oh my god, this is the most powerful thing I could do,'” he said.
The documentary, which will be released in the UK on June 8, will be available in Spanish on Televisa and other digital platforms.
